Long Time, No... See what I'm driving now!
OK, it's been too long since I've done anything with this page... and I apologize.
Really, I do. I should be more proactive about putting personal information about myself on the Internet. You know?
OK, Now I'm just being sarcastic. It's been one of those days.
So, what I'm really here to do today is tell you about my vehicular situation. It keeps changing, and you might not be up to date with what I'm driving on any given day (or at least that's how it's been feeling lately...)
Here's what's been happening in "my garage" (a gravelled area open to the elements just North of the house... seriously...):
1) We started out this journey in the blogosphere when I was the proud slave of a 1989 BMW M3... More Money Mandated... The M3 is currently For Sale in case anyone is interested. Please. Really, I insist. Go take a look, and Buy It. I'm not kidding.
That happened in November when I bought a much more, do I dare say it, sedate 1991 BMW 318is. In red. (OK, not entirely sedate.) This one was entirely stock, and completely base model. Now it has a MOMO shift knob, and I'm still waffling about which steering wheel I'd like to install...
Then Wendy hit some unexpected trouble with the MINI (read all about it here on Wendy's World.) This prompted us to start looking around for a cheap temporary car, and got her to thinking. So she decided to buy me a truck for Christmas. It's been a fun little rig so far, and I have a new (used) bumper to put on it, and other bits and pieces to make it just a little more driver friendly.
:)
The 318 needed a steering rack (leaking on both sides) but because we had no other options at the time I'd been driving it and adding steering fluid on a regular basis. I also knew it needed front control arms... Well, the week after Wendy got the MINI back, it started to shake a little on the way home from work one night. This kind of scared me a bit, so I started driving the truck. That was about 4 weeks ago I think.
This weekend I got the 318 back from the shop. Sweet! It drives much better now. It doesn't clunk over bumps. It doesn't leak steering fluid. It doesn't shake, shimmy or feel funky at all.
Thanks all to the guys at Car Tender! John was a great help with the MINI, and worked with me on the list of repairs on the 318. He came in right at the quoted amount after all the maintenance items had been taken car of, and had a list with a couple items that I should look at in the near future. It's been a real pleasure working with him and his crew, and they will be seeing a little more of our cars in the future.
Now, I just have to get the door seals installed on the truck, and try to fix the vents. They seem to be stuck open (brrrrr!)
