My first objet d'art for the new house - and updates
Steve asked me, where is it going to go? I don't know yet. Perhaps my office - I want to do a Tuscan theme there, color-wise. It would be fun to do a whole room Italian style. I've proposed the library be some sort of French style, since our largest book is a French dictionary (it is HUGE - but safely packed away awaiting the move).
Our transactions move forward smoothly - it looks like everything is going to work out perfectly. We are in the process of selling to a man about our age who built the 2 newest houses on my block just up the street from us. He will let us rent here for as long as we like. We avoid moving twice! That's a big bonus. Most of the trees here will have to be removed - the biggest cedar tree was so damaged in the wind storm in December it will be dangerous and would need to be taken down anyway. I don't want to live here without that tree - it creates a lot of privacy and ambiance here. Since that has to come down, it makes no difference about the other tree of the same age (only about 70 years old) and the antique cherry tree that most people would call ugly. The buyer is going to split this property down the middle and build another house on the other half. He will have to create a parking pad in the backyard somewhere since off-street parking is required and the front yard is too steep and shallow to do it. All I can say is, glad I won't be living here! (None of the work will be started until after we move).
The siding is going on to our new building this weekend. I will have to ask the names of the colors and provide a picture. I know the color of the door is called "Rainstorm". Yeah, kind of gray. But our new home will be so bright and sunny and happy the color of the building won't matter! We did check out the view of the mountains this morning. It is a distant view but quite a view of the eastern horizon anyway. It's pretty nice. We stood around in the kitchen/dining/family room and tried to figure out how big of a TV we would be buying (we'll be getting one of those big LCD panel TVs that can hang).
But I'll just stick with my little piece of wall art for now.
