The Wonderful World of Wendy

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - WOW - what a ride!!

Some of our first photos

The townhome is complete and we have the keys! We spent the weekend painting (Steve) and then shopping for flower pots for the deck garden. I have quite a list of plants I am moving with me and they all need homes! I will write more details later, but wanted to give you some pictures now.

Hardwood entry, nice electric fireplace.

The kitchen was upgraded to hardwood floors.

Sophia's Pet Loo stands at the ready in the top floor laundry room (she hasn't used it yet, tho, despite my good efforts)

The powder room was also upgraded to hardwood floors.

Sophia explores the house with me. This is the first time she has been inside, altho we have walked all over the neighborhood in the month's leading up to this big moment!

View from my office.

There's a lot of paint going into this place!

Steve is doing all of the painting himself. He spent a lot of time masking this weekend.

The very first thing I bought for our new home back in April.

My new pots stand at the ready...

Just a day away from a new life

Well, technically more than a day since we are not moving into our new townhome at High Point right away. We hired an interior designer to help us pick a color scheme and we are going to spend some time painting and moving certain things individually - and in particular I will be spending some time getting my deck garden all set up.

Here are some recent photos - altho not most recent (from early July). We get our keys tomorrow! And we move on to the next phase of our life.

Also: Don't forget, I post to my other blog almost daily. Visit Green Spaces Real Estate for some photos from Street of Dreams and other interesting things I've picked up here and there.

Women In Art

One of my favorite classes in college was completely unrelated to my business major - art history. I had always avoided art and art appreciation in part because I was color-blind and didn't see it the way normal people did. I also thought it was fluff, a waste of my intellectual time. Art history was totally, amazing, tho - I took 3 telecourses when at Bellevue Community College in the early 90s. I was amazed by how much history you could learn by studying a culture's art. Maybe what I really loved about it, then, was how efficient it was. I could learn both ART and HISTORY at the same time. What a lot of bang for your buck!

Thank you to my sister-in-law, Kimry Jelen, an artist in Bend, OR, for sending me this YouTube video. Please enjoy!
