The Wonderful World of Wendy

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - WOW - what a ride!!

This blog has moved. Please see Wendy's World

For Earth Day - check out my green blog

If you've never checked out my "green blog", you should. You can consider it your "Earth Day" activity if you like. Baby steps are okay!!

Since launching my green blog two years ago my pink blog does not have the same quantity of content that it used to - or that my green blog has now. Because so much a part of my core values and interests are about healthy lifestyles and homes my green blog does receive most of my attention. And it has a lot of readers, too. I am sure more than my pink blog!

So, for Earth Day, week or month, go read my green blog. And then maybe try something you read about there in your own life!

Mad World en Masse

This is nice also.

More Mad World - the original

This is the version I remember. I have never seen the video before tho. (My parents STILL don't have cable, so I did not grow up with MTV).

It's a Mad World

This week's American Idol performance by Adam Lambert - which got cut off on my dvr recording and I had to come to the web site after knowing who gets eliminated this week to see it - was another master. When we hit the Top 10 I called Adam Lambert as the Idol. Alexis Grace was my top pick up until that point, she made such amazing changes and was so hip, I thought she would pull it off.

Anyway, hearing later what Lambert sang this week and not remembering who originally sang the song, my husband did remember that it was a Tears for Fears song but thought that someone else had redone it in the last few years. So I hit the iTunes store to see the artists for this song title. Then I had to go to YouTube to see who Michael Andrews was.

Now hearing this version I know I have heard this song a lot actually. It's so skillfully done that I would never have guessed its original artist and connected it to an 80s pop band. The video here is quite good, also.

I was happy to see that Lambert also took this song to a whole new place. So there are three great versions of this song now available for my listening pleasure.

Lady GaGa on American Idol

Lady GaGa's performance on American Idol last week is the first time I have heard of her. I thought, boy, what am I missing?! I thought it was a super performance and watched it several times.

I've done a little research since then and I want to thank American Idol for allowing an artist whose normal music videos are soft porn posing as art to perform. Her G-rated performance on Americal Idol was in the show's spirit. It was as if she was a contestant and put her own spin on the original artist's work. I loved the mix of music styles in her own song. I honestly prefer it to what she is selling as her normal work.

I was going to download her song to my iPod, but now having seen her video have decided to not support her by adding to her sales numbers. She has two #1 singles out right now so I know she won't miss me. And every now and then I need to take a stand against gratuitous sex - the cool version on American Idol is actually much better than her original (which you can find on the official Lady GaGa YouTube channel.)
